Description

SNF 8, also known as EAP30 (ELL-associated protein of 30 kDa), is localizes to both the nucleus and the cytoplasm and is a member of the SNF8 family of vacuolar sorting proteins. This protein is subunit of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport II (ESCRT-II), which is required for multivesicular body (MVB) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. The MVB pathway mediates delivery of transmembrane proteins into the lumen of the lysosome for degradation. The ESCRT-II complex may also play a role in transcription regulation by participating in derepression of transcription by RNA polymerase II, possibly via its interaction with ELL. Recombinant human SNF8 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques
